There is more than one type of collector. The receivers often used for acoustic guitar pickups are not wound, but piezo pickups. They are very easy to make. If you have the parts, you can make one in about 5 minutes. I did some of them even. The most recent was last week I used this guitar that I did. I can not think of any reason why you can not plug it into your computer. In fact, I'm sure someone I know did this, I just can not think of who it was.
