Drum Kits and lessons?
I played drums in a school band when I was in high school and I just played in a trap. I was thinking of taking him again, but I have a few questions. 1) If I for one entire game, a trap or just a block of practice to start? When I was in the band have pads prática.-If so, would be an electric or acoustic be more ideal for a beginner? And I have a list of good-marcas. My price limit is about 600. 2) I take lessons? I play guitar, bass, violin and piano, I know all my theory. Is it worth paying for classes or should I just get a beginner's book?
1. Yes ... you should buy the kit. By oy might ask? I'll tell you why. Because if you only practice the loop ... you are not getting the experience complete battery ... which of course is generally drum kit itself ... including the Bass Drum, Floor Tom, Tom-toms, Hi-Hats and the Ride, the attack of Crash ... Look, etc ... when I started playing drums at age 16. I had no job, I had no money ... and my guitar was stolen in 15! So ... what have I done? I had an inexpensive kit organic drum cans using Folgers Coffee, a few Tupperware bowls to use as Tom-toms, a book Dictionary as a tie ... a roll of film used as a cheap Hi-Hat in a dish cheap Sears Hi-hat stand .... and played in my bed during the first 2 years. I used to drum along with cassette tapes and headphones then. I was broke and wanted to drum so bad that I did something it. I do not really get my first real drum kit until 1988. I worked some odd jobs to make money ... then I spent $ 800 on a new play misty 5 brand chrome Tama Rockstar kit with Sabian cymbals B8 pack included. I had to Tama kit from 1988 and for 1991, so I sold a friend for $ 400. At that time ... I used to play a lot of speed metal songs and Tama kit that took the abuse very well ... I had no maintenance problems with him at all. So if you decide to buy a whole kit ... I suggest getting a 5 piece Tama kit Imperialstar $ 700. It's a lot that I've seen around. He still comes with a number of other 4 dishes Meinl included (a pair of hi-hats, a ride cymbal, a plate and a plate Beat China as well) dishes are expensive because only si ... I used to own Paiste 400s, 3000s and 2002s also dishes from 1988 to 2003 so I know how the hundreds of dollars I paid for them. www.midwestpercussion.com www.guitarcenter.com www.music123.com .......... battery only www.westcoastdrumcenter.com......drums site single site to be honest ... I do not like games Electronic Drum. I would never buy one too. Toys not get me wrong ... they are great to play with .. Roland and Yamaha make some incredible electronic kits. But I played both acoustic and electronic kits ....& honestly ... you just can not compare the "sound" and "feel" of a real acoustic drum kit. Most drummers you see nowadays most have an acoustic drum kit for a reason ... this is because of the sound and feel "of it. 2. Keep in mind that some classes are not cheap. I finally took a lesson from a drummer in 1999 or 2000. I was paying $ 20 for a half hour back then ... then it means that the teacher Drum charged $ 40 a hour in that time ... now the prices have gone up & are like $ 30 for half an hour. So that means are $ 60 per full hour of drum lessons. So if you do not have the money to drum lessons .... try to buy a cheap "as the drum" CD & book deal for $ 20. They are so good and will teach you the basic notes on the notation, timing, Staff, 5 basic, 7 and 10 rolls of course, the flams, the Paradiddles twice Paradiddles, the rolls of buzz, and all that other basic drum rudiments. I used to have a cool drum book called "syncope" by Ted Reed. Its only $ 5 for it and it's good stuff. Also, go to your local library and check out free "how to play drums" books as well. They are fully free and you'll still learn that way too. One last thing ... get a metronome, as a quiktime one. This will be the best $ 15 you've gone in your life! A drummer is useless to anyone if they have a great time ... A metronome will teach you the BPMS (beats per minute). Drumming is all about keeping time and keeping it locked solid! The band follows the drummer to keep time because the song. This is the work drummers and you have to learn fast than real. Hope this helps and good luck
