What is a good bass?

My upper purchase limit is $ 300. So what would be a good model? (considering that I intend experiment with many types of music)
THE Jazz is a very good choice, they are very versatile and can sound good in almost any style of music. You have a few options: Get a 70 Squier Vintage Modified Jazz: The Vintage Modified line is widely considered the best series of low Squier - one of the best in price range. Get a MIM (Made in Mexico) Fender Jazz: The MIM Fenders are its cheaper, I'm not sure if you will be able to get one for $ 300 though. Analyze it and, if possible, create one, if not, go to the Squier VM Jazz, you will not regret or purchase. Hope you find what you're looking for! Cheers =)
