Bass Guitar Slapping Techniques

I'm thinking of studying bass guitar, I learned to play guitar and I'm much better than the Plucking strumming. All I have done is play some music down on my acoustic guitar (I broke a string because I forgot I was playing in a 6-string guitar and I was frustrated that no the same sound, I'm so stupid!) I'm just wondering how they are different, if I buy a Bass guitar. As there are no techniques that are just down? (I've heard of "hitting" anything else?) Or any other notes and other things that are different? Yes, many people know how to play guitar, there is nothing special about it anymore
