Guitar Tabs Equals Paint by Numbers
It amazes me that the excessive use of the guidance system to play guitar, never before, to my knowledge, anyway, was equated with painting by numbers. While good for the amateur and garage band hack, has been increasingly brought into the real world of music. Some of you may remember all those polls tad and wavy lines, claves, sticks and bars, the words of Italian as legato, staccato and those of the other act. They were very good for us and with the professor of law, (which is increasingly difficult to find, but that's another article), they were even fun. It seems to me that this teaching tool wonderful call tablature has been abused in this world that instant gratification now seems to exist. Not to mention the spit in the face of Segovia, Chet Atkins, Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Tal Farlow, BB King, Eric Clapton, I made my point yet. Tab hackers can not be compared with us, the real musicians.
It is the responsibility us as teachers to not give in to pressure to play guitar or any instrument for that easy question. The guitar and the piano became the most abused of these systems projects due to numerical and standardized instrument. True professionals should be insulted by the outbreak of infection within the letter of our players ineptly trained that in times of yore would have been limited to playing only at family gatherings and bashes summer school teenagers drunk, which took a little beer and plants weeds. It is not to say that it is not nice for them to play that way. I'll even give them an occasional "how cute." Heck, I was informed by well-meaning but uninformed parents to "just let them play and have fun, they do not need to learn the theory." Personally, I think that's fine some learn and play that way, as long as you confine it to Bessie old aunt and grandmother, or even a bucket of blood on the keys, but kindly do not include as one of us. You're not. If you can not read music, know little or nothing about the theory, then you're not a musician.
I do I'm trying to be harsh here, I'm just trying to protect the craft that I struggled to perfect, both playing and, especially, education. Found that those who do not care or are only lazy simply will not learn faster, with or without tabs. The real tragedy are those who care or will be taken care of later and then it is more difficult to learn the theory. You will paint from this format of numbers and easy to learn cool songs like "Sweet Home Alabama, Smoke on the Water to Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Yes, that will work. Guess what? You just ruined what could have become a good musician, amateur or not, and spent all the money in the classroom to what extent. Not to mention the cost of the dust collection instrument, by the way, does a good line of clothing, such as machines exercise. More importantly, you as a further blow to the true artisans, the musician.
Kindly do not succumb to this practice, hire a professional real with a lot of great references and pay him the extra Bucks, it's worth.
