Diamond Head are a British heavy metal band formed in 1976 in Stourbridge, England. They were a key member of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) and are recognized by later bands like Metallica and Megadeth as an important early influence.

Band history
Early
Formed by friends school in 1976, Brian Tatler and Duncan Scott with Tatler Fuzz playing a cheap guitar and Scott on Biscuit tins. The name "Diamond Head" came from an album by Phil Manzanera Tatler had a poster in his room. Sean Harris later joined the band after they learned about his vocal abilities while on a school trip, singing success of 1956 Gene Vincent "Be-Bop-A-Lula" and test it in the fourth of Tatler. Bassist Colin Kimberley, a friend of Tatler in school, joined the band some months later (and was, in fact, bassist fourth Diamond Head) and the band started to play local gigs in the Black Country. In fact his first gig was in High School in Stourbridge Park on February 10, 1976, but things are not very good in this show, with problems with feedback ruining the songs.
Even in its early days the band refused to play cover songs and stuck to their own material. The only exception to this was the addition of Black Sabbath's Paranoid "in 1978 and" This Flight Tonight "plus" Rock The Nation "in 1991. In an interview Brian Tatler reported that they wrote 100 songs before his first studio album. The truth can be proven in this statement by the fact that only one song (It's Electric) from whole of 1978 was eventually recorded his debut.
The band recorded and released self-financed demo tapes in 1977 and 1979. Although only recorded within six hours in a four-lane, their unique sound and quality of song writing gained enough attention to tour in support with AC / DC and Iron Maiden, the band's first showing the intricacies of the music industry. Despite a clutch of record struggled to sign the band, none were willing to fully commit. The fact that the band was then administered by the mother of Sean Harris (Linda Harris), who have rejected offer a powerful Q Prime Management, does not help the commercial dynamics of the band. Thus, while other bands New Wave of British Heavy Metal ", such as Def Leppard, were signed to major labels and were headlining their own tours Diamond Head were growing increasingly impatient and decided to release their material through his own label Happy Face Records.
The first release of this stamp was the 1980 single Shoot The Lights Out (B-side Helpless), who had a previous single Sweet and Innocent (B-side Streets of Gold), released by Media Records the same year. In the same year the band also recorded his debut album Happy Face most commonly known as Lightning to the Nations, but has never officially had a title, within seven days in the studio Smythy Old in Worcester, in which the band described as "dead." This album came in a simple sleeve with no title, having only one signature of a member of the band and there are track listings. The reason for this was that the manager of Banda, Reg Fellows, who died in 2005, owned a cardboard factory and could produce blank sleeves at a low cost. There were initially only 1,000 copies pressed of the album, were available only at their concerts or by e-mail to a cost of? 3.50. In fact the e-mail notice only appeared on the weekend of Sons and ran for four weeks. However, the band does not pay the ad and ended up being sued. The idea of recording this album came from stock and Linda Harris, and was an attempt to establish some tracks so they could send it to a label that would release it, as the recording costs had already been covered. This album became one of the most sought after collectible record time. Later, more than 1000 copies were pressed, which contained the complete listing. Unfortunately, the only ...
