In typical rock bands, that (acoustic guitar or electric) is used mainly for guitar and for the rhythm?
I know that guitar solos are mostly done on electric guitar and guitar can be played by both acoustic and electric. But that combination is the most common?
Electric - Electric Normally both are electric with acoustic lead on special occasions. TBH I've never seen an acoustic guitarist.
