guitar action height

Your guitar will not play in tune defective because of intonation. You tried to sacrifice your favorite effects pedal for guitar gods and donating money to gig orphanages, but nothing seems to help. You were ready to take on the Theremin, until she found articles like this that describe practical ways to correct intonation. A part of this article explains how to correct certain factors that the intonation of corrupt and Bass, as the nut slots defective or excessive neck relief. Part two will discuss how to resolve some issues that cause more wrong intonation. For a review on how to properly set the intonation, see the article Xylem "Guitar and Bass Repair: Beyond Basic Tuning - Intonation, What is it and how it works."

High Nut

Please follow this link to view the figures for this article.

If the first several frets his sharp instrument to play, regardless of your intonation and tuning, the nut can be very high. How much higher the nut stretch more when fretted. The more you stretch the strings, the sharper the field. To check if your nut is too high, adjust your instrument pitch and make sure the relief of the neck is set correctly (items # 1-3). Then the rope less wear on the third fret. If you can fit more than one card business between the bottom of the chain and the top of the first fret, the nut is too high.

A nut high and should be removed extra height polished away. To Remove the nut, place a block of wood against the side facing the fretboard (Figure 1). Gently tap the end opposite the block of wood with a hammer to hit the nut free. Most of the instruments should have only a small amount of glue to the nut so that it can be removed this way, without causing any damage. If the nut does not come out after a few soft touches, consider asking a luthier or repair tech to remove the nut.

Once the nut is free, mark it to indicate the amount of material must be removed, with a view to removing 1 / 8 "is too much. While sanding, make sure the bottom of the nut remains flat and square to the side that touches the arm of marking it with a square of frequency. Sand the nut with a template, as represented in Figure 2 will help you to stay flat and square (make sure your jig forms a perfect right angle). Start with a coarse sandpaper between 100 and 150. The final polishing should be done with a grain between 320 and 600. Sand material away in small increments and check the height of the nut, occasionally, with the method described above third fret. If you sand away a lot of material may have to replace the nut.

Once the nut is an appropriate time, clean up any excess glue where the nut was sitting on his lap with a chisel, file or sandpaper wrapped around a small square block (if you do not have much experience with a chisel, stick with the file or sandpaper). Make sure the nut seat is square and smooth. Place a small drop of glue or hide white glue on the seat of the nut. Place the nut on its head and tune the instrument to pitch (the strings act as a clamp). Make sure the nut does not wander as string tension. Wipe the excess glue with a damp paper towel and let dry for about 12 hours before playing the instrument. You just improved both the intonation and action on the bottom frets!

Maxed-Out Fixed remuneration and instruments Saddles

Some saddles instruments' can be adjusted all the way to backward or forward, but they do not sing properly. Other instruments with fixed incorrect intonation saddles for their compensation can not be adjusted easily. The intonation of these instruments can be improved or corrected in one of the following ways, depending on the action, relief and tension of the strings.

In general, a guitar or bass with a lot of action, to reduce excessive or low tension strings will require compensation, as all of these conditions require the strings to stretch more when frets. Instruments with the saddle set back all the way (or a saddle fixed) and intonation system can be reduced its action, the relief reduced or more sequences of voltage installed in an effort to correct the intonation. Moreover, instruments with saddles adjusted fully forward (or a saddle fixed) and flat intonation may have his action raised relief varying sequences voltage installed to improve or correct your intonation. If you are not familiar with setting action or relief in their own country, consider taking your instrument to a luthier for these adjustments.

As always, thanks for reading. See you in a month!
