An audio interface is a better option. You will be able to do more with it in the future. The best way to record your guitar would be to record the clean signal direct. Then you have a better signal to noise ratio and be able to change their sound as ever you like. You can then re-record the clean sound back with your pedal and try all kinds of effects. If you're thinking instead of getting involved with Protools, you can prolly get a Mbox mini and use it with Cubase and still have the option using protools in the future. Unlike buying an interface 2 down the line.
