Guitar Buying Guide Beginner
information about mandolins?
I want to play the mandolin. Currently, I play guitar, so I think I'll buy a DVD and basically teach me (is what I did with the guitar as well). I'm wondering if anyone out there can give me some vital information about building mandolins, who chooses to use, what should I buy, and only the instrument (ie the armrests, capo. etc etc) ... I just need a guide for beginners! If you know a good site or have any information to show, I'll be very grateful! thank you very much!
I played both classical and bluegrass / folk mandolin, and have different instruments (as they produce slightly different sounds that work best for different styles.) I do not change my choice (pick whatever works well for you on guitar can also be used for mandolin, since its not too big and heavy), I do not use a capo (its really not practical), and the only thing you need, and the instrument is a belt (if you're standing while playing a guitar strap can be easily modified to do so) and extra strings (mandolin require special strings of different guitar chords). Oh, and if you do not already know, a mandolin is tuned the same way as a guitar, then you need to spend some extra time learning the new notes because occur at different frets.
