Most guitarists know that to hit the "sweet spot" of your amp have to be a fairly high volume, but the question is: how do you achieve these volumes studio loud when you're living in a house with other people or in a block of flats?

Well, there are a few different ways. One is to create a kind of isolation box and place your amp inside it. The other method is to move your amplifier to another room or closet and deaden the sound with blankets. But because they have the best of both world, and put the amp in a box of isolation, in another room.

What's so large boxes of isolation? --

- They allow you to really crank up the volume without disturbing the neighbors

- Comrades hear the amp in just a moderately high level

- Simple and easy to build

- Cheap

- Fits any room, as closet

- Control your environment - the majority of professional studios are acoustically and scientifically design and treaties that costs huge amounts of money. You can treat an acoustically isolated box for a fraction of the cost, giving you the perfect environment to record in.

A box of insulation is basically a simple 4-sided wooden box, large enough to fit inside your amp. The walls of the insulation should all be lined with acoustic foam, has a lid articulated and small hole for cables. If you find the type of flooring you have (floor tile, etc.) is to add or remove the sound that you can always defend the amplifier in a blanket or a little more foam.

Construction Tips --

Use of 1.5 "of coarse (such as thickness and many layers of wood that you can afford). Some stores do not have 1.5 "chipboard or MDF. However, you should be able to 1" of particles in a common store, call around your local hardware store or wood yard - you will find many will cut the wood to its desired dimensions.

Make it about 6 feet long, 3.75 m high, 3 'deep - check the size that is required for a 4x12 cabinet. Bigger is usually better, since it allows the use of different amps or more than one, and also allows a large amount of space your micing you should choose to use more than one microphone.

With any amp or cabinet you put in the insulation you will want to mount it to the ground. The reason for this is, some frequencies can be amplified through the earth causing the microphone to pick up the sound again. If you lift off the ground a little you will hear a more faithful representation of what your amp doing.

Both Musicansfriend and Markertek have a great selection of acoustic foam. The brand has Auralex offer some great offer on Musicians Friend's.

Remember to drill a hole big enough to fit through their cables. As an additional layer of insulation you might want to put a layer thick over the entire box or place the isolation box in a closet.
