Guitar Building calluses?

I heard the trick where you put rubbing alcohol on the tip of your fingers to dry the skin. Well, I have no alcohol, so I was wondering if peroxide would work as a replacement. I'm only fifteen so I can not just go buy something i cannot drive and my mother often go to the store for me. And for all you ppl that say "stop being a coward" I do not much when my fingers hurt. I bite my lip and keep playing
