How to play acoustic guitar?

I just got my Fender Acoustic 4 days ago and am trying to teach me to play. I know some chords and even learned Anyone "Else" by The Moldy Peaches. However, when I looked up the tabs for this song also told me the strumming pattern. But others do not and I can not understand them. This song was only 2 strings and Cmaj7 G. please help me I do not know anything at all and all tips would be greatly appreciated.

Ok so it takes time to be able to find the pattern for the song. Also hear an acoustic version of the song so it is easier to choose the strumming pattern.
