As the color without Crayons: Adding color tones chord

Adding color tones of a chord is like adding color to a drawing in black and white which adds depth and dimension as well and bring it to life.

There is a time and place, of course, for black and white music, " just as there is in art. And often as a musician I choose to use grayscale to color my improvisations on the piano, as well as an artist who uses light and darkness to create the feeling and mood of the drawing.

But there are times when adding a splash of color can do wonders for your piano (or guitar or electronic keyboard or organ or any other). These colors Music to create nuances of texture and feeling that are simply not available using tones ash.

So what colors are available from your musical taste? And as we mix them into the existing framework of a song?

I'm glad you asked, because you'll be surprised at the number of combinations or shades of colors that can be mixed in any given chord.

But first, let's review what a chord basic black and white is made. Each basic triad is composed of 3 notes: a root (the lowest note of the chord), a 3 and a 5.

* The major triad consists of a root, then note 3 of the major scale, then the note 5 for a larger scale. For example, in the key of C triad main C, E and G. In the key of D major triad is D, F #, and A. Why F #? Because, in the range of DF # is the 3rd degree. So the key of Db triad greater Db, F, Ab. Why Ab? Why is the 5th note in the scale of Db.

* A minor triad consists of a root, a 3 and dropped a half step, and 5 a larger scale. So instead of E as the 3rd of the chord we use Eb. In the key of D, F #, rather than use the 3 F, which is already 1 / 2 step lower than F #.

* An augmented triad is composed of a root, a 3 and a 5 raised a half-step. Thus, the C augmented triad would be C, E and G #.

* The diminished triad consists of a root, a 3 and dropped a half step, and a 5 fell a half-step. Thus, the triad would be C decreased C, Eb, Gb e.

These are the blacks "and white "chords: colorless, but adequate in most cases.

But when you want to add a creative touch to your game, here is the color palate you have to work with:

* 2nds: 2 to note a larger scale.

* 6ths: 6 to note a larger scale.

* 7ths main note 7 on a scale greater.

* 7ths: (Also known as 7ths dominant): 7 downloaded from a large scale.

* 9ths: Grade 9 of the major scale (same as footnote 2, except an octave above). If you're wondering why the 9 is not only called 2, is because the 9 is combined with other shades of colors, while the 2nd is not.

* 9ths Flat: 9 note of a major scale down step by half.

* 11ths: Grade 11, a major scale (same as 4, except an octave higher).

* 11 Sharp: note 11, a larger scale raised step by half.

* 13: Grade 13, a major scale (same as 6, except an octave higher).

Then you can add a 6 to a greater or lesser triad to create a brighter sound. 7 You can add a key to a greater or lesser or diminished triad to create another type of sound. You can add a 7 (dominant 7) for a major, minor, diminished or augmented chord to create another type of sound. Or you can add a 7, along with a 6 or 9 along with a 7 key, or a 9, along with a 7 or 11, along with a 9 and a 7, or 13 along with a 11 and a 9 and a 7.

And so on. We could continue combining shades of color, until the cows come home, but the best way for you to learn what is possible is to just dig and experience. You will find many, many interesting combinations that you can use in different musical situations that will brighten your music and add a rainbow colors of their creative improvisations.
