Acoustic guitar bridge ......... removal / replacement?
The bridge on my guitar was divided in half, so I bought a new one with the same dimensions. Somebody tell me what kind of glue to use to paste the new one? Moreover, the old one will be hard to get?
Easy .... first remove the old bridge with care. Use an iron and put it on the old bridge. I know it sounds funny, but you have to soften the glue of age and if you do not So you can rip the table harnong soon after the old bridge. Use a scraper and gently lift it because you are heating. Then, once removed, background Sand lightly to remove the old glue that you can get a good fit. You can use bulldog white glue or white glue and clamp the bridge, putting the clip in the hole the rear of the bridge. Press it, but before tightening it, put an old piece of wood on top of the new you will not mar the finish of the new bridge. Note that it is always better to use a clamp on each end and one in the middle. it will dry within 24 hours and will perform perfectly. So do not worry.
