Help with basic electronics?

i exposed wires stereo headphones (apple) :>--------- ------ cut it so. ____a_____b 4 wires and then left. part: * green * red * brass (copper) * and aa pair of fine red and green, which are twisted together. then using another pair of earphones, I also cut it to get part B of the same. right: * red copper wire used left: * blue wire from copper wire from which the the four are left and they are right? How do I pair of these? How do I connect a wire to another without welding? I can just twist them together and tape? and what are the soft as silk yarn in the center of each wire? I want to connect my ipod headphones to another and even more, I call this type of cable wire to a guitar so I can connect my guitar to my pc. any ideas? all answers are appreciated. thankyou!

I do not know what all the wires are in the first set of headphones. No there should be two wires going to each element of the real ear. The second, red and blue are the signal, the copper wires are ground. If you want to connect the wires, you can twist them together, but it will not work very well or last very long because the wires tarnish over time, so you get noise and an intermittent connection. If you have welding, or can borrow a few inches Rosin soldering, you can twist the wires together, wrap a bit of solder around that way, then perform a play with it (carefully) until only the solder melts and flows into the joint. Not elegant, but it works. Then you need wrap each connection in electrical tape or shrink tubing to not touch. Soft as silk strands are there to give the weakest tensile (resistance to stretching). You can connect a guitar on a PC. The output of the pickup of the guitar is much less than a microphone. You will need at least a pre-amplifier. I think you may be able to use a phono preamp, and you can get at Radio Shack for about $ 20.
