Bassists Pro - can you help?
I would like to know the pros and cons of using and learning, with a fretless bass on a fretted a good method to learn to play without looking down at my hands or a picture / description of the sequence block with the left hand side / palm? a graph good line string, or freeware program for this image or a vid showing correct finger of the left hand / wrist and thumb arm position when playing? warm / i exercises stretching can try an online resource or freeware to 'play along' (if possible)? this is a follow up a question I posted recently: All the answers http://answers.yahoo.com/question/i ... are appreciated
OK, in sequence: - They are different in philosophy and approach, and are used to different things and sounds. You use what you like best, or both, if you like both. You get a better hearing, more accurate if you learn to fretless correctly (and music theory, etc.) and play it as your primary, in the long term. - A lot of practice, without looking, but listen carefully, to make sure you play the right direction. Invoking the feel in your hands and your ears to recognize notes tell you where you are, not your eyes. - You can find that on YouTube. Basically, you just lean on the side of his hand against the strings almost always touch the bridge, that is. - It is the chord charts losers who do not know music theory and, therefore, can not figure these things for themselves. A musician worthy of the title does not use that crap. Save yourself a decade of storage of garbage and learn music theory. - No Such Thing, really. Different individuals do different things - find the style that allows you to do your best. I always laugh so hard when I see a big name to say "and you have to anchor your fingers against the body for stability and go to another, and you should never anchor your fingers so you can move your hand around freely ... "I do not anchor, the others do. Here's what feels right for you. - Again, lots of examples n YouTube but usually people do their own warm-ups. - I do not know of any. I just play along MP3s/CDs my favorites if I can not find a band of musicians decent, which is sure to be the best source for playing along. - Your link is dead for some reason. Good luck!
