guitar gripmaster
Why is my pinky hangs when I'm playing guitar, and how can I stop / prevent this?

I finally got new guitar strings today and decided that I'm learning to play guitar, even if it kills me. I had one since I was ten, and I'm 16 now. When I play a lot of times my finger will kind of ... Snap out of place / lock up, and not come back unless I stop playing and move it back. I heard it is a lack of strength in my little finger. Is this true? And if so, how do I build strength in it? I can not afford a GRIPMASTER or anything like that at this time. Please help. I just started playing the violin too, and I know that I run into this problem soon, if I do not help you now. Thanks in advance for the answers.

The "problem pinky 'must not only the strength of the finger, but the positioning of your body and friction as well. If you're sitting, sit on the classic position. Sitting or standing, do your best to keep the fret hand thumb centered on the back of the neck as much as possible. Keep your fingers fret as perpendicular as possible (without discomfort) to the fret board, and the frets as close as possible. NOT press (ie choke), the fretboard, which can and will cause damage to your wrist / hand. Use as little force as necesarry clearly the note. I heard from several reliable sources that the GRIPMASTER is not so good for the hands-I have not tried one myself, I'm just suggesting that if you do decide to go that route, the search is completely first (and not just ask the seller;) Make sure your guitar action is good is useful. Finally, a lower gauge string can help. Good luck and keep playing!
