What is a good guitar for guitar sounds of heavy metal and grindy?

I want to find a guitar cheaper (under $ 1000), which provides a heavy sound and intense. I'm looking for a sound in the vein of As I Lay Dying, The Devil Wears Prada, Underoath, Pantera, Avenged Sevenfold (plus sound), confide, our last night, Alesana, ect. Everywhere, just a guitar Numeatal or core metal sounding.

If you want a heavy sound, you need two things - Pickups output of an amplifier with high and enjoyable. Of the two, the amplifier is the most important. Without a good amplifier, you can not get a great tone. But you asked about guitars. Two directions are presented to me ... one is to go with a heavier () mahogany guitar, the other is to go with a lighter () basswood body. mahogany is darker sound, and a wood tone classic, made famous by Les Paul, etc. A good place to start would Epiphone - the guitars are well made and the quality and tone are good. Basswood is lighter in weight and has a brighter sound, more "present". Not as low as mahogany, with more than average higher and treble. A lot of guitars at lower prices are made of basswood, so there are a wide variety of guitars to choose from here. Almost the entire line Ibanez is made of Basswood, as well as its non basswood is not rock or does not work for heavy things. I bought a pair of cheapo guitars LTD, an EC-50 and an EC-100QM, and spent some time and money to upgrade them. As with most guitars, receiving new strings, a proper installation and intonation, and new components electronics and pickups really bring the best .... the guitars' In this case, some active pickups Dragonfire (link below) in the EC-50 and an Alnico II Pro and Alternative 8 Seymour Duncan in the EC-100QM. I love this combination pickup - both are Alnico pups, so that both have a calm tone and little chime at the top. The A2P has a very "Slash" tone when soloing, and Alt 8 has a similar tone to JB (so very versatile, lots of medium to saturate its distortion) but with a little more clarity and more low end, good for rhythm and chunky power chords, etc. The puppies Dragonfire are so-so. The clean are the neutral and almost sterile, but distort beautifully - the EC-50 is my "metal" guitar now. =) I put on board or pre-amplifier active pickups on all my guitars to increase the tone. The site below has a few onboard FX you can drop the guitar. If you have not got it yet, the key to get a sound distortion is good for blast the crap out of your distortion pedal or amp is. Pedals EQ, high output pickups, booster / overdrive pedal, distortion pedal with the gain way turned down and the level turned up, even wah pedal (I use my Dunlop 535Q, because I can set the interval to be nice and wide so it does not the color of my tom * like everything he could, it increases my tone in the higher frequencies mid / treble, and it gives me a great crunchy tone when I put it in front my choices Boss Metalcore). Heckling the chicks that I just mentioned, any of the "D" of DiMarzio pickups would be great ... they work well with refinements fell ... I mean Activator D, D Sonic, etc. Of course, I still put in a pre-amplifier. For a neck pickup, I think the Seymour Duncan A2P (as mentioned previously) and PAF Joe DiMarzio pickups are great - Nice round tone, warm and good for bonds. EDIT: I highly disagree with the comment about Dean guitars. Company Dean was under different management when Dimebag was around - they've changed management and are owned by different people - the guitars are not the same quality. We're not saying they guitars horrible, I suppose. Probably better than BC Rich (Agathis crappy? Ick!). thicker strings = better. I'm using 11, the drop d tuned down 1 / 2 step (you can call it Drop C #). Certainly what I like, though I may be ready to rise to 12's. Unfortunately, the Elixir does not load 12's I think. = (The ME50 is not all that ... but as I said, if you have a good amplifier you can compensate for lack of tone in other parts of your chain signal. Do not discount the importance of updating your speakers or speaker cab is .... probably one of the best ways to get better sound from your equipment immediately. Saul
