guitar killswitch wiring
guitar killswitch help?

I would like to build a killswitch for my guitar. I thought of a building on my guitar, but I decided against it. I found this tutorial for building a "pedal" Killswitch: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/sho ... Seems to me like it is shorting the signal guitar ... The last time I checked short-circuit electronics was bad and screwed stuff up ... then why are you on the guitar's signal here? Perhaps there is some thing I miss here ... this is short-circuiting the wires or not bad for my guitar and amplifier? Moreover, it will not give me the 'cable came off the sound of the guitar 'go? Thanks for any help ~ Sam

When we talk about anything that has to do with power as an AC line or any item that yes, as short-circuit can be disastrous and even deadly! But when we are referring to an audio signal, as the type of their guitars pickups, then there this tension so that no harm can be done to you or your equipment. In a way, each guitar has a killswitch. The volume control is just that, one way to "kill" signal to the amplifier. Factory killswitch on the same principle of short-circuit the positive signal to the ground. With a volume control you simply adjusting the amount of signal that you are short-circuit to ground. The more you decrease the volume to more signal is being diverted to the ground. If you has a style of Les Paul guitar that you can use the switch as a kill switch. Just off one of the receivers all the way and use the switch to move between pickups. Once one is up and down the other is that you'll hear the familiar "killswitch effect." This only works on guitars that have a control Separate volume for each pickup.
