For me, there are two main styles of teaching guitar,

  • Notation, through a book tuitional
  • By the method of music Favorite

Learning For Notation:
This is a common way many teachers teach classical. This method involves teach the fundamentals of music and notation first. Here is a shortlist

  • guitar parts
  • sitting or standing
  • Pick farm
  • finger numbering
  • personal music
  • Note appointment
  • bars
  • note values
  • time signatures
  • rating of view of reading for all six strings
  • seen gambling read notation all six strings

This method, in the end is a great way to learn guitar, but my experience is more appropriate for children under 12 years of age or adults who realize the importance of reading sheet music and rhythm lines. Of Anyway I think it only holds the attention of the average student 10 to 15 lessons before they want to learn popular songs or favorites.

A lot of new students who come to my classes I have ever played ever say "I can play very well but I know nothing about music or notation. It seems to be a known fact that you really do not have to be strong in the notation or music theory to play guitar. Because of this guitar is a popular instrument to learn, and because of video clips and image of rock band. I think a student learn the violin, cello, trumpet or any other classical instrument will be focused on lessons and practice, because they are aware of the regiment that comes with this instrument. Because of this rebellious behavior that comes with the guitar a lot of teachers use the method learning through music libraries. Thus, the student is more interested in the lesson program.

Learning by Means of Favorite Song:
This is the most popular method of teaching, by far, both for students and teachers. A lot of teachers who know how to use this method, the main reason for this is because he gets quick results in a wide range of students. When you begin a new lesson will explain the two learning methods and usually give them a choice about which way they would like to follow, in most cases they will leave the decision for me.

Choosing the right method for the student:
Age is a major factor in selecting the method of teaching. I usually find that children of primary school has a lot of influences peer group, when it comes to music. They like what they like and it usually results from parents' choices of music. Therefore, they are easily influenced when is a song off the guitar and happily practice what they are given. Children usually have to be taught a little more slowly and step by step, not missing something about how they will get confused. Also try to create some games you can play in class, things like:

Because children under the age of 12 is a blank page, which gives more flexibility to higher rating and a bit of music theory instead of rushing them to play popular songs immediately. The age limit is not a rule set, but more of a guideline.

Some students, especially young people want to learn to play guitar just for the picture. The guitar, drums and singing are probably the most popular instruments to learn, simply by the fact that children are bombarded by video clips, musical idol type shows and movies showing the style pop and rock. If we compare a student learning the cello clarinet or someone learning the guitar, there is a big difference in attitude. Someone learning a classical instrument will usually understand the learning process involved with regimented learning these types of instruments.

Global learning should be about FUN with the instrument in order to keep classes at a balanced level of structure vs music
