Guitar Mixers

A lot of bands in the debate on whether or not to hire a sound guy or do the configuration. There are some things to think about when making your decision.
First, you should consider the size of the site. If you're in a bar or small local bank and 100 of the PA that you need is not very large, you can handle sounds the same. Is better to have the mixer on the right side of the stage. If a guitarist or bass player is right-handed it is easier to do it on the right side as the neck of the instrument will point away from the mixer and is easier to remove your right hand to the left in mid song if something goes wrong.
If, however, you is playing somewhere large (up to 500 people), or abroad, you probably should hire a professional who can meet all the arts and operate sound and lighting for you because you will need more.
Another thing to consider is the mix of skills of his bandmates. This includes knowledge associated with amplifier power, impedance equalization, graphic and parametric, compression, effects and location of problem frequencies that will create feedback (squeal or hum). Do not forget to consider the basic knowledge of dynamic levels, microphone polar patterns and, in general levels of mixing sound. If you can not do any of that or heard of it, consider hiring a professional.
Also, what is the size of your band. If your band has more than the average of five playing a variety of instruments, so it's best to hire a guy who knows the sound he is doing. Also, the requirement microphones, cables, DI boxes, it is huge, and possibly much to do it.
Finally, what is your budget? You need to decide whether invest in a sound system of their own or continue to hire and pay "dead money" in rental rates. You can practically buy a good system sound basis for the costs of hiring for the year or so if you're playing a few nights a week, every week and earn some money. Remember that you have to buy many accessories for PA systems, but if you are doing mainly local small and you have someone who can configure and mix your band, you will save a bundle to do it alone.
Try to listen to the guy before you hire. Quite a few PA / boys are atrocious sound mix and have no idea what they are doing, although they say they do. That is why it is important to them before hiring them. Do not be fooled by the techno babble.
Hire a good sound guy is a lot of work. Make sure your favorite bands weigh all factors before deciding. Discuss all the factors involved and see if it is better to hire someone than doing it alone. If you play a lot of sites large and has a lot of equipment, hiring someone who is likely to be beneficial for your band.
