Vermont Academy (also called AV) is an American mixed boarding / day school and college preparatory school is mixed, and college preparation, with a 515-acre campus. There are 228 students from 30 states and 12 countries (46 students - 20%).
History
The school was founded in 1876. [citation needed]
In 1934, the school teetering on the brink of bankruptcy, Dartmouth College President Ernest Martin Hopkins recommended a colleague graduate Dartmouth for the post of director of the Academy of Vermont. Laurence G. Leavitt was director for 25 years, during which double the enrollment, retired debt from school and made many improvements to the school campus.
