Pickguards for Guitar?
the purchase of a pickup from a guitar that doesn't have one is safe just to screw on the guitar and holes, possibly damage anything? thanks for your help I knowlike anything about this kind of thing
If you are installing one on an electric guitar, When there is no problem doing so. screws are not too big or too long, maybe about 1 / 2 inch long and 1 / 16 "wide. so that the holes need not be profound. Add in the fact that electronics are usually in a small cavity under the pickups and the rest of the wiring will probably be sent cavities in the back. If there is a shield, then, probably without the wiring will be in danger. If you are putting one on an acoustic guitar, you should not spoil the guard to get in anyway. Elmer's Glue or a light bead of epoxy should be enough to mount the pick guard. I believe they sell pick guards to acoustics with adhesive already on the back, then you just remove the support and slap that sucker on. there must be problems anyway, and the sound of the guitar should not be affected. (possibly a little difference on the sound, because you're covering some of the top wood resonant, but since most speaker has to choose guards, it should not be a noticeable difference. I do not think it would reduce the value of the guitar, it may even improve. (Unless a guitar vintage or rare, with a lot of value already, so it would be a modification to change it to "status" original) and you really need not be installed by a professional unless you have no clue at all about using a drill or something like glue down! If drilling just put the shield in position and mark the hole locations on the guitar with a pin or the tip of the screw, then remove the shell and surface holes. No problem.
