They Frets on Fire / Gunnar Hero / Guitar Star legal?

I know that the games are legal, but what about songs getting? What songs are legal? (for example, that the artists give permission to download free) Also, I own Guitar Hero 3, then it is legal for me to get the songs off the internet for this game? PS Gunnar hero is homebrew PSP and Star Guitar FoF is a port for the PSP, for those of you who do not know. EDIT: Ok, then I know that downloading songs is illegal, but I can download the songs from Guitar Hero 3 off the internet because I own it?

I do not know for sure but I think since you own The Game would be fun for you to download the songs ... would be about the same as copying a CD to your iPod.
