Try a crotchet hook thin ... will give you the conditioning you need. Will take the practice of using it without twisting it, but it will work. Draw lines and their first pattern on tracing paper, mark pin through the paper, then start with the hook. An alternative would be to get hold of a thin knife used for carving balsa wood for model making. A knitting needle would work as well.
