guitar rhythm notation
(this worship song by Chris Tomlin .. please ignore the succession of ".....".. I had to enter them, have been removed from the spaces): G. ............... C. ............ D We stand and lift our hands Do you just strum the G chord multiple times or something before the "C" chord? Or, if I am wrong, what does all this mean? You change to fingering the frets in the middle, where the "G" and "C" are? I know I sound this dumb question all experienced guitarists .. but work with me. I would like to learn.

To play from the leaves of string, you must know the song, and is better to have a recording. I suggest you start by just strum the chord once as you come to the word that the rope is placed on top. Listen to the chord changes the record as you play. Then try to pluck the string once in each time (pulse) of the music until the next chord. It's OK to leave out the hammer on the last beat before the change to give yourself time to change strings. So, listen to the music, and use a combination of downward and upward strums to match it. The upstrums only need 2 or 3 strings, not to wake the whole. Take it slow, and master each step before moving on to the next. Good Luck, CM
