Brand recommendations - depends on how much you're willing to spend, but if you're looking for something in the $ 200 - $ 500 range, Alvarez and Dean already mentioned, also check out Washburn, Ibanez, Blueridge and also are good tools for beginners in this price range. guitar picks - most of them come in a standard size, but varying thicknesses. Most beginners seem find thin picks easier and more forgiving to play with more experienced players, but tend to prefer medium and heavy picks. Most brands of picks are cheap enough (about $ .25 each) that you can buy just a handful of different brands and thicknesses and try them out and see what you like. You also may decide to learn to play by picking up with fingers and thumb, or not using picks or using a thumbpick and fingerpicks. guitar strap - it is essential to start. If you're going to play on foot, you will need one, but for now do not worry. Nylon vs. steel strings - guitars are built specifically or nylon or steel strings. Steel strings exert a lot more pull and tension in the body of the guitar and nylon strings on the neck to do. Guitars built for nylon strings are lighter and made of fine wood interior with less preparation in order to get the best sound of nylon strings, but they can not stand up ropes steel. DO NOT PUT STEEL strings on a nylon string GUITAR, unless you want a broken guitar very quickly! If you have a guitar that was made to string steel that will be made of heavier wood with more exciting inside to face the strong tension of steel strings. If you put nylon strings on a guitar steel will not break, it will just be very quiet and not very clear. Guitar steel strings are generally better for rock music, most types of folk music, bluegrass guitars etc nylon rope are used mainly for classical music, flamenco, jazz and others. Standard tuning guitar (which will the lower the sound, thickest string to sound louder, thinner string): EADGB E. Middle C on the piano is played on the B string first fret. Acoustic guitars that can be played through an amp - yes. Ask an electric guitar with a built-in piezo - pickup. Alternatively, you can buy a guitar you like, without a built-in pickup, there are several companies that make various types of pickups or microphones that can be installed in or on his guitar later. But you do not need it right now to start learning to play. Hope this helps.
