Now you can add the technique slap her arsenal of guitar skills. The kind of slap technique creates the illusion that has percussion player in your pocket. He brings a little drama to your guitar and helps to add some emphasis to the rhythm. Basically this is achieved by striking the guitar strings withe the thumb of his right hand.
Here is a word of caution: you can not use the technique slap if you have a pick in hand. It will not work. You need to empty hand to run the slap. If you use a pick you're left with good old sequence of block to produce a similar effect.
There are two ways you can make the technique work to slap you. You can separate your slaps his harvest and play chords. Or you can strike the strings at the same time, as you strum chords.
Let's take the first way first, doing the slapping and harvested separately. This is the easier of the two methods. So you're playing notes on the beat and his slap is heard off the beat. Once you have this technique down you can add notes and blows where you want, but let's keep it simple for the sake of explanation. Then you play a chord to start and you slap the sixth string with thumb.
The second method of using the slap technique is to pluck the strings with the first finger, while in the buff while the sixth string with your thumb. This is a new kind of movement that you have not found to play guitar before, so it will take a little practice slow and tedious.
You can also pluck the strings with the thumb and fingers and hit the strings with the fingers and the thumb, which gives a different kind of sound. If you find some videos of guitarists using slap technique with the guitar you will quickly see why devoting time to this style of game will render.
