guitar sounds tinny
Replacement String changed the sound of my bass?

I needed new strings So I took all the strings out of my bottom, clean it a little, shook a few screws and whatnot and put the new strings, and it seemed to me really ... "metallic" as through a can. So I I took them and put the old back and the metallic sound as well. it has something to do wit the tension on the guitar being relieved? help!

Hmm ... often when you add new sequences, they have a very bright (sometimes tougher) tone, as old strings have a lot of dirt and oil in them that gives them a shade duller. It could be a problem of tension, I took the bottom to a music store or a guitar tech and have them take a look at it. He could require something as simple as a tensor or setting bridge (although it would be better to have a professional do it, if you do not have much experience with this type of thing) - you may also have to adjust your intonation bass. So, yes, try to take him to a music store or other place with some trained professionals.
