Can I use lapel microphones and wireless system for an electric guitar?
I saw a lapel microphone very cheap at a store the other day. I wonder if I can use it as a wireless system for my guitar .. is the lapel transmitter runs on a 9V battery. the base of the receiver is connected to an adapter AC / DC .. I'm wondering how I can use this device to run my electric guitar. and use it to play. I'm looking for concrete answers here. I do not I lose my money. thanks.
Can you? Yes, you need to replace the microphone element with a 1 / 4 "plug that will fit your guitar 1 / 4" plug. Do you want to? No cheap wireless units will use FM, or some other frequency that can get all kinds of interference. Worse, if you receive a show of lighting and other environments can add to that starting unit interference. The result is static, crosstalk and other RF and electromagnetic interference ... not be less chance of interference if you use UHF - full range of wireless systems. VHF is OK (but not so good as UHF). Stay away from FM, 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz or spectrum shared and others subject to interference problems.
