Do you encourage or go against the scales of guitar? Everyone tells me something different?
All intelligent people use different scales, but when I use them are very boring and annoying. I suck at learning that the notes are the scale and organizing them into small boxes and switching through them to improvise. Slash and also I do not think that the scales used. Hes my idol and all he did was sit there playing with Aerosmith records. Some people say that their immpossible to learn guitar non-stop and others say that you do not really need them you just have to find what notes sound good. What do you say?
Definitely learn scales, but you do not have to learn each. I think the best thing to do is learn the CAGED system. It is only 5 strings, and the 5 pentatonic scales (one for each form a 5 string). It's a little difficult to explain in words, you'd be better off doing a Google search for some diagrams, but here a quick summary. You start with a C chord in the 0-3 frets. The C chord in the form of junk at 3-5. The chord C is following in the form of G (and keep going, spell the word CAGED). You can start with G and G is W-shaped, formed D. Get the picture? And each form has a pentatonic scale, that 'down on it.
