Guitar Theory Modes
It is absolutely necessary to know all the scales in all positions (modes) on guitar?
I was stuck in the same place for a while (probably because learning guitar was an effort again off again with me). I took some lessons, but that was back in school. Now I'm alone and I'm trying learn and get faster, and learn to solo. Chords together I can considering I'm more of a keyboard player of a guitarist, but not in the sense that a guitarist could attach strings. I have experience of music theory. All I want to do is get faster and more accurate in that I play with pick. Any idea?
Learning and "see" all positions scale should be kindof a final result. If you want to be more accurate and faster with a pick, it's all about repetition. So, for the practice of combining the development of technical-material with the fun part (improvisation and solos), make sure that whenever they are made to perform all the exercises miserably boring and annoying technical, you end your practice session with a fun and less stressful jam applying rumors that you was previously learning at your own soloing.
