How to get the guitar tone Gothenburg?
I've been playing guitar for a few years, but I always loved bands like In Flames and At the Gates and I have tried to obtain a similar note, I can find out how. Im tuned C unusual and I have herd the idea of using this setting Treble EQ --- 2 Mid - 8 Bass - increase of 3-7 anyideas?
The type of amplifier that you will make a big difference in the EQ settings you use, and will make a huge impact on your tone. Amplifier 15w, no matter how well EQ'd can not give you the same quality of sound that a 50-100W battery can. I say this because most of these guys are using tube cells overdrive (generally more pro-level musicians), and this is a sign that you just can not match the configuration of your EQ in a way. Think in your signal chain all - what kind of guitar you are using, it has high output humbuckers (necessary!) The type / if any effect you are using, you are having the impedance / capacitance issues of the cable into account, what kind of amps are you using, what kind of speakers? Each piece of the puzzle makes an impact on overall tone. I'm not familiar with the "tone" in Gothenburg, but in a very general sense, if you are want to increase playing solo bass and treble boost and mid cut a little and be very liberal with the gain, if you're playing live you want to cut low and mid, treble and reduce the gain a little clarity. Boosting mids is good for the volume of the guitar, in fact, its very important for the volume of the guitar, but without acute I do not think you is going to sound very good with this EQ setting .... A great way to enhance your tone is to listen to your bass. Anytime a signal passes a stage gain, too low = muddiness, fartiness, etc. Cut her down before it gets to your amp or distortion pedal (its main gain stages). You do this with an EQ pedal or reducing the effect of its major bridge and neck pickups slightly.
