Guitar Truss Rod Setup

Can a guitar with a broken tensioner still be used as a slide guitar is setup properly?

I bought the guitar for $ 50.00, a copy of 1970 (Lotus LesPaul). Has two piece body, pickups dimarzzio. Paint and body in great shape. After being abandoned for 20 years the neck is tensor is deformed and broken. I could replace the neck, but being that this is a copy, I do not think it worth 300.00 for a neck. Then I thought arose only after the action of Strigs neck bent not matter?

I would be afraid that you would break the neck completely, but since it was only $ 50, if you can get it to work for you I say go for it. It can be terribly annoying or maybe you get lucky.
