Chocolat - 4 stars (excellent)

It is rare when you can say that a movie is so warm and wonderful he can overcome even a manipulative, vindictive and authority figure of a husband guilty of abuse, but "Chocolat" can do it with some great acting, screenplay and direction.

Chocolat is all that is right on film, a romantic comedy with drama and some important lessons to be learned about rejection, love, compassion, kindness, friendship, acceptance and help people in their point of need.

Like many great films that win Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Picture, Chocolat is a storyteller who weaves a fantastic tale powered by current from the north winds.

It is the north wind bringing Vianne Rocher (Juliette Binoche), a single mother and her 6-year-old daughter Anouk (Victoire Thivisol) to a small rural village in France, where he immediately Vianne opens a chocolate shop, with hours of Sunday outside a Catholic church during Lent.

Many of the village's 350 residents are skeptical of arrival Vianne, and especially since she opened her business, when many of them have given up eating sweets during Lent as a sacrifice to their maker.

Count Paul de Reynaud (Alfred Molina), the mayor, is also outraged that someone do such a thing in his village. The mayor is a manipulative, Control Freak, which requires that the villagers up to its code of conduct, doing basically what he says when he says that, on cue. You are expected to comply with the rules of the mayor, or face being ostracized, and be sent away.

Of course the mayor and the city's new chocolatier, will lock horns. What is not clear is how chocolates Vianne will affect those who dare to eat them.

One by one, she begins to win over residents by helping them in their point of need. Vianne befriends Armande Voizin (Judi Dench), owner, whose daughter Caroline Clairmont (Carrie-Anne Moss) refuses to let his mother see her grandson Luc Clairmont (Aurelien Parent-Koenig). Armande is a diabetic who will not take proper care of herself, choosing to live the rest of her life as she pleases.

Vianne also befriends Josephine Muscat (Lena Olin), who finds refuge in rent Vianne above the chocolate shop when she leaves her alcoholic, abusive husband Serge Muscat (Peter Stormare). Violence erupts when storms Serge's apartment to retrieve his wife, he is as smart as a rock and treats his wife as a punching bag.

Vianne also manages to animate the life of a married couple with an aphrodisiac chocolate and encourages the secret love of an elderly man who was a widow in mourning for more than 40 years.

Things really get out of control when a band of river gypsies led by Roux (Johnny Depp) camp on the river near the village, and Vianne takes the walker irish Roux. The near death incident leads to some serious consequences for the guilty involved, and as the instigator. See the movie to find out how it all ends. Tip: You know ending with the north wind.

Chocolat (french chocolate) gets some great performances as Juliette Binoche, Judi Dench, Lena Olin and Alfred Molina, among others. Johnny Depp plays guitar in the movie in three different scenes, and has two songs on the soundtrack.

The film has a stellar cast, international cast. Before filming Chocolat, the French actress Juliette Binoche won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for "The English Patient", British actress Judi Dench won an Oscar as best supporting actress for "Shakespeare in Love", and the Swedish actress Lena Olin had won an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress in "Enemies: A Love Story.

Chocolat directed by Lasse Hallstrom, whose wife is Lena Olin. The film is based on the novel by Joanne Harris with the screenplay by Robert Nelson Jacobs.

Appreciative voters do not ignore the excellence of this film. The Best Academy Awards for Best Actress indicated Binoche, Judi Dench for Best Supporting Actress, Screenplay for Jacobs, Rachel Portman for Best Original Score and Best Picture Chocolat. Binoche, Judi Dench, Chocolat Portman and were also nominated for the Golden Globe Awards in the same categories. Chocolat also 8 received BAFTA nominations.

The box office numbers were also good for Chocolat. The production budget was $ 25 million and he pulled in $ 152 million in worldwide revenue. Chocolat also ranked among the Top 5 movies ever to generate more revenue without hitting the No. 1 rank.

In preparation for the film, Binoche went to a chocolate shop in Paris to learn to make chocolates. A recipient of chocolates in the movie had this to say: "And if it melts, God forbid, she slowly melts on your tongue, and torture him with pleasure. "No wonder that the villages were conquered by the creation of Vianne.

However great the Chocolat chocolates were in the real sweetness in this film is Juliette Binoche, I fell for it again. See Chocolat, is not only good taste, but nice and delicious. May God bless the cast and crew for bringing us such a wonderful presentation.
