Guitar Wood Finish

can someone give me advice on how to remove the finish of a guitar and ...?
general tips on doing it, some people have said torch? btw I started sanding, but only started and is not the first time I build a guitar (just finished a Frankenstrat - I'm quite happy with that) I have a copy of a Flying V and I'm going to sand down the wood and maybe just the veneer. (and the wood underneath is good (I started grinding a little (ending tomorrow))) Mabe and give me some cool paintjobs for the Flying V is that I am not totally sure about natural finishes (i have seen the drone original EVH and blak and white Frankenstrat idk, but I think I could go with natural) i am putting a clear coat of something on it btw
http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/tutorial5.htm This site has some good advice. Using the heat is a bit risky because it can burn wood or destroy electronic components. I would like to keep the sanding or using a chemical method. The site has ideas above for staining and varnishing as well.
