Ayahuasca Shaman and Peruvian Mystic, Alonso Del Rio Interviewed
Alonso del Rio is a powerful teacher who interweaves Shipibo and other songs with music sacred their own lead him on his journey, he is a talented musician and an inspiring communicator of the Amazonian shamanic world. He had his first contact with ayahuasca in 1979, after spending three years working with huachuma (San Pedro). Was when he met Don Benito Arevalo, a Shipibo shaman with whom he developed great relationship long-term, and that he gave his first teachings in ayahuasca and other medicinal plants.
Later, taking ayahuasca alone as part of its traditional doctrine, he says, "I did not feel comfortable playing the songs that I learned from my master, for one night I picked up my guitar and started playing what came to me and the result was surprising. From then on I was never without my guitar at ceremonies and over the years many songs came to me, set to different rhythms for ceremonies and incorporating teachings and revelations of their own medicine. "He has published three CDs to date. Alonso lives in the Sacred Valley of Cusco, where he runs a center healing and a primary school for local children.
The potential and purpose of Ayahuasca
For most traditional shamans, Ayahuasca is a tool for the diagnosis of disease and as healers (medicine men) who will mediate with plant spirits to heal their clients both physically and spiritually. Most 'popular' urban shamans can also use their magical powers to change their luck, for example attracting money or a lover.
This Country would like to develop something else, perhaps even more serious, and use the plants as powerful tools for self-knowledge. Among all spiritual paths the world offers, Alonso believes that at present, plans for teachers are the best way for people to get a thorough understanding of themselves and at the same time, this can solve some problems that other paths can not.
During his 30 years of experience with ayahuasca and San Pedro, Alonso never wanted to be a shaman or gain power magic, but gain self-development through self-knowledge. He will share his findings to help us 'undo' the mental programming and cultural conditioning of the family (and ancient) which models our minds. Ayahuasca is a powerful tool to be happy and free, says Alonso
The retreat we are holding with Alonso, could also serve as a person who has some background in Buddhism, yoga or mysticism.
It is a space for having contact with divinity without intermediaries or interpretations. Ayahuasca allows you to be gently introspective to see their fears, concerns and everything that makes you suffer! Can take you back through of his life to show you when they took over the suffering of his body and in his memory, as he did you live on a superficial level, as there is under a lot of pain, and as we do not want to feel pain, we condemn ourselves to live in the area. With ayahuasca, we enter the pain at the time when we were children, when we had to first traumas and anxieties of life, and cleanse it by forgiving the whole chain of events and people that made us suffer. The traumatic experiences are inevitable in life, but we can not afford to do is live with resentment and blame people, because it ruins our relationships.
Some can not be satisfied with the life they lead. Ayahuasca allows them to see their priorities. It is a spiritual path that you want more, or make money? You want starting a family or you want to continue your career? Constantly doing what is expected of us we cause suffering. The answers are all within us. We must live by what we profoundly want. Ayahuasca clarifies your priorities and feelings, which are neither good nor bad in and of themselves.
Talk with Alonso
There are many myths about the origin of Ayahuasca and there is even one that is growing rapidly in the West, that ayahuasca is what we need to get us out of confusion we are! But it can work for Westerners the same way if they are out of context and cultural beliefs associated with that go with it?
I think it works, but its different. The mind of an educated person in the jungle without much contact with the Western world, probably born around 50 or 70 years ago, and most conductors traditional, who have lived without watching TV and other Western influences. Your mind is very different from yours or my mind. So, to have access to the same views, the same codes is difficult. But what I found is that the expansion of consciousness and the power that the plant gives you to understand many things is perfectly valid.
The magical space to be taken - call the "unconscious" or whatever term you want to use, depending on the psychological model - Is one where all the kingdoms of nature can communicate. This is where people can talk to plants and plants with minerals, minerals and animals with humans ... all in same language. It is a very real communication and one of the biggest mysteries there. This is something that an English person, or a Peruvian born in Lima can experience just as a person of the Amazon. Because you can do this without talking to a native dialect, is not the head, but between one spirit and another.
Some Western made is wrong for not respecting the diet correctly, and some tried to make special exceptions for foreigners.
Yes it is true, and that the main point have lost respect, respect for tradition. Not that there is a diet for one native and one for a western. There is a diet not two! Its more than what you eat, your sex and other things as well. Otherwise, someone could come along and pretend it was a bridge for a wonderful sexual experience! No no limit to the imagination of some New Age gurus If you follow these traditions that have been tried and tested by thousands of years and then you want to make changes, then you can probably do it. But first you need the nobility to undergo the rigors full of tradition, then you can have the power to change things for his people. But if you can not cut to make a proper diet, then you're not in a position to underestimate.
There was a group of Germans who after sessions with Guillermo, go to the disk, assuming that they had descended from the effects of ayahuasca. They danced to loud music. It gives a wrong idea of how you can get not to respect the tradition. You need to prepare the body and mind to receive all information that comes to you, otherwise it can destroy it as a flash of a burning tree.
As you continue to work vegetable diets, you have the most intense and at the same time develop a greater capacity to resist them, until you can take the strongest plants and live more in another reality and you can return to your self, your body.
Alonso says a myth Ashua
At the time of the ancestors had a ladder, like a rope linking the world of Ashua with the upper world. Here lived other beings just like Ashua but they were spirits. These beings were very strong and can become anything they wanted. One day Moon-man cut this ladder so that people could no longer communicate with the spirits up, and so they have lost their power. Moon man refers to the way relate to all things in everyday reality through the mind. This is what gives 'everyday reality "quality, often disabling,' there out, and your can not change it. "In other words, the mind came between man and the spiritual world. Ayahuasca is the broken string, but is always there.
In all cultures there is a reminder of an era in which people could talk directly with the spirits. Then comes the civilization, and has reason and highest human achievement. What is not rational, there is, and that is what has ruled today. For 2000 years we have suffered this kind of tyranny of reason. If its not logical its not worthy of us. The next step in our evolution is the reconciliation of two things, and will be the union of reason with intuition. It will generate a new development in humanity leading to other states of consciousness and knowledge.
So what do we do with taboos, supposedly irrational, but they must have served for anything, because our ancestors were not stupid?
In some cases they may have been distorted, somehow, but usually they come from something real, then its best to respect them without rationalizing them. If we try to do this since we are in the wrong way.

John James Live In Concert $16.29 ''When I heard the tapes of this album it impressed me as the essential John James. Probably because he was a working musician, 'live' that is, I never felt that his earlier studio albums (except for Sky In My Pie with Peter Berryman) did him full justice. His recent debut Descriptive Guitar Instrumentals was probably the first to really showcase what a lively, fluent, creative and dynamic player ... |
