ozzy osbourne guitar auditions

Before I start making the list, please let me explain this is not a measure of technical or record sales or anything. This is only list of musicians that I like to play my favorite instrument - The Bass. I have to give a huge shout to Geezer, he is not on the list, but we all have to talk about the influence. With the show:

My favorite bass player # 4 is not another, then a long time Metallica member Jason Newstead.

When people talk about Jason they talk about the fan who has to live his dream and play with their heroes in Metallica. This may be true on some levels, but Jason was part of Flotsam & Jetsom before Metallica. They recorded and album that Jason claims with 90% of the writing credits.

In 1986 Metallica bassist Cliff Burton died in a tragic bus accident leaving Metallica devastated and looking for a new bassist. Tests were carried out and Jason was selected over 30 other musicians that test. It started the feeling of being "hired" hand of Metallica. To this day Jason will say that I never felt like a true part of the band. To make matters worse, when the first studio album with Jason left (Justice for all people) were outraged by the fact that the bottom line has not been submitted. Lars and James blamed the production poor, but Jason has always claimed that added to the resentment.

1991 was a break-through year for Jason and Metallica. The Black Album was released and producer Bob Rock used considerable skill to Jason for the potential. The band was flying high over the years, but the tension was always there with Jason and the group. In 2000, overflowed with Jason working on his self-financed Ecobrain band. Jason wanted to release an album and James claimed that weaken Metallica. With that being said Jason officially walked away from Metallica January 17, 2001.

Ecobrain made the album's release, but very little critical success. Metallica also struggled with St. Anger, which is a blog all the other in itself. Jason moved to work with Ozzy Osbourne for a full tour and talked about writing an album together, but after Jason left Ozzy tour for reasons other than revealed.

Next was Canadian thrash legends Voivod. Once again Jason financed the same band. They released two albums, but with the exception of a small cult The following albums have done very little. I could also talk about the involvement of Rockstar Supernova with Jason, but why?

I like Jason because he was the first real bass I noticed when I saw Metallica and I never heard a bass solo before. It was amazing. That will always be special, but since he left Metallica it ends losing your way. In the Hall of Fame ceremony this year, he was on stage with Metallica again and we all back and realized that he must be!
