"Focus on the Bass": An Evening with Keller Williams

By Andy Hikel

Skowhegan, ME-On Saturday night the Skowhegan Opera House showcased incredible talent called Keller Williams. On top of the Skowhegan Police Station, Williams flat out entertained a few hundred spectators, with his act of a man who included various types of assortments guitars, acoustic bass, upright bass, electric bass, percussion, keyboard, electric guitar, a guitar bass/9-string a rope, and a mess all the technology loop to name a few.

The true genius of Williams is in his acoustic guitar and looping skills. Walking left the stage strumming his guitar, he immediately grabbed the audience with its huge stage in the ethos. Barefoot, he has made through their instruments set on stage making faces and strange dance moves force you to laugh with joy. He then showed his musical prowess looping a guitar riff, and then hit a hit for boxing follow the riff. After finding the correct rhythm Williams looped it and moseyed over a longer propped up down and began to hammer out a funky bass line it then looped too. This behavior is nothing new for a daily Keller Williams fan, but for a day Skowhegan this site is nothing less than mind-blowing musical genius. He continued his one man show for nearly three hours looping instruments, beats, and lyrics along the way to one of the most entertaining shows of the small town of Skowhegan, Maine has ever seen. Many of his songs started four minutes recording studio and instantly became twelve sessions minutes overflowing with jam improvisations several different instruments, including even a Capella singing style.

Local concert-goer and Portland resident Sherry Mills spoke at Williams and performance. "His style is so hop in a way that no one around can compare. The way he can get into the heads of crowds, you know, fun with lyrics and his amazing use of their music technology he is involved, it's really amazing what this guy can do. It's something I totally recommend for all ages "

Williams is originally a native of Virginia, but has been called home to Colorado for nearly a decade and a half. His one-man-show can seem new and refreshing to some, but his act is nothing new. Since its 1994 debut album, Freek, Williams was the recording and tour original compositions. He has released twelve CDs since his debut with his latest album, 12, was released in December 2007.
