First let me tell you about my equipment. I have a strat-style guitar. It's a Squier Showmaster, and sporty two Duncan humbucker pickups and I have a Vox DA-10 as an amplifier. Now I am under the impression that my current guitar is not good for rockabilly. I have done some research and it appears that semi-hollow body guitars are best for achieving the sound of rockabilly, and it seems I need a good slap-back echo pedal too. So my questions are: Does rockabilly (I'm talking about Eddie Cochran, Stray Cats type of sound) the sound achievable with my equipment? Need only an echo pedal to complete my attempt at a rockabilly sound, or I need a different guitar and pedal? Rockabilly is playable on any amplifier or an amplifier has to be tube? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you all for your time.
Of course – you can play rockabilly on your equipment! Ancient peoples such as Cochran, began to adhere poor quality equipment. That said, yes, you will need a kind of slap-back echo unit. And sure, you probably – and possibly – To have better results with a decent tube amp, suitable analog or tape delay of the tube, a Gretsch guitar as a major or similar. Do not let that stop you – Always use what you have until you can afford something better! What you should be aware that most of the tone is the attitude and reproduction person – not equipment. So go for it, have fun and play with you attitude will get closer to an authentic sound using the neck pickup and not have very sharp on your amp. Maybe even a little bearing on his guitar. Skull buttons are a common problem add-on accessory. You need a number Model (try the back of the head, neck or near the back of the guitar body, a serial number and condition of guitar to determine value. Fernandes is a company that was an offshoot of the Fender people who did – they wanted a company that cound control (Fender was huge, and they became unable to do what they wanted). Generally, they are decent, playing guitar – a professional backup at best, but usually not a guitar onstage.
