When it comes to fingering of chords, is good policy to examine the strings that will be used in the song that you are about to play. If you simply follow the fingering suggested in your chord dictionary average, the suggestions may also inhibit, not play and help your fluency.
Most books of chords that you will find when you start as a guitar player shows a chord diagram and also the management of use. That sounds like a good way to doing things, pleasant and direct dontcha think. WRONG!
Take the D major chord, for example. A lot of books of chords that I've seen recommend the chord fingering follows. Index finger, 3rd string, fret 2. 3rd finger, 2nd string, fret 3, finger 2 and 1 string, fret 2. Whats wrong with that? you may ask.
Nothing I would respond, while the next chord in music is not a D7. If this is the case, then it is not just a case of moving the fingers to form the chord. It is a change of hand position. Now you need to get your 2nd finger to the string 2 fret 1. Try it without moving your hand in everything.
No can be done. I would suggest another fingering the D chord, which I think would be more beneficial for you in the long term.
Try using your finger 2, 3 strings, fret 2, 3 fingers, 1 string, fret 2 and your pinky finger or, in the 3rd fret on the string B. I know you can not be all that comfortable with using your finger at the moment. Believe me it is well worth persevering. Now the chords of two D7 D minor and involve only one finger movement, no movement of the hand to move them from the D major chord. Try it, I'm sure you will find it easy. To move from one chord to the D major chord D7 using my suggestion fingering is just a matter of taking a finger 3rd fret of the B string, and replaces it with 1 finger at fret 1, the chain B. How easy is that? no hand movement at all. Only the fingers.
To form chord D minor after a D major chord. Lift your finger 3 of the top E string fret 2, and replace it with your finger on the first E string 1st fret.
I think you will agree that if the development involves a transfer of a D major for a D7, the fingering I'm suggesting is much better to use.
There are lots fingerings of chords ranging from the commonly taught, and much of the time they are much more effective.

Music of My Mind $4.73 Stevie Wonder was getting his fusion of soul, rock, and various other styles together when Music of My Mind appeared in early 1972.
