Problem with digital sound quality when recording music.?
I just finished recording my first song on my Mac using GarageBand. I was very pleased wth how it turned except for the sound quality digital. Some tracks, like the vocals and solos, sound great, but other tracks such as bass and chords distorted guitar sound. I'm fairly new to write my own songs, and like I said this is my first song. What should I do to improve the quality digital tracks? I need to rerecord-higher, lower or what? Also, I can not get the music as loud as I like. When I turn up the volume, both in instrument itself or the individual song, it is distorted to a certain point. Thanks!
I still record in digital camera and not at the computer, However it seems that the entry levels need to be adjusted. This level can vary depending on whether the signal is a microphone or instrument straight line (like a keyboard). Also some microphones and instruments have "active signals, which are very strong. This may be the source of distortion. During recording, you watch levels closely. Keep them in 0db as much as possible. If you are having problems with sound and spiking overdriving you can also invest in a compresser. Check with your to a music store.
