How to relate the scales and chords?

So I asked my guitar teacher about it today, but I still do not understand completely. If I were playing in the key of C Major and G7 The chords were C and F. He said something about the degree, 1 fourth and fifth of the scale. Sorry if this makes no sense, I do not know how express my question.

The scales of any chords go in alphabetical order. C major scale would CDEFGAB then back to C would be an octave (basically a level higher where it starts all over). And a D major scale begins at D and passing through the same cycle (DEFGABCD). All these chords are major, minor or diminished, depending on which scale degree (letter) that you choose. M represents an important asset and a lowercase m is smaller. All degrees of the major scale pattern that go, MmmMMmd (D means diminished). You see there are six M's (lower or upper case) and D to do seven degrees of the scale, because there are only seven strings total (even that these chords can be changed in a variety of forms). What is your guitar teacher was saying is that the music was playing requires the first step of the scale, the fourth scale degree and fifth degree of the scale. That is a very popular chord progression for the music. The first scale degree of a C major scale would be C major. The 4th F would be larger and would be the fifth G major. Now you can have a footnote (which is the single note by itself, also known as just the note C) or you can have a chord. No matter what the key signature you're on a major chord is usually composed of 1, 3, 5 and notes the degree of the scale (there are hundreds of combinations different, but this is the most common). For a C chord, the first is the note C, the third is the note E and the fifth is the note G, which gives it a major chord. For F, One is the note F, the third is the note, and the fifth is the note C. Now a G7 is a G chord with the seventh G scale added. So it would be the first (G) 3 (B) to 5 (D) and 7 (F). I know this is all very confusing, but suffice me know if you have more questions.
