Choosing an electric guitar?

Im 13 and I want to learn to play electric guitar. What models you reccamend? (I hear that Squire's a good choice but I'm really confused) How the person im buying it, I'd like to keep it below $ 300, why I'm so confused is some people are telling me to pay for a nicer model ($ 600 – $ 1200) but some are telling me to buy a package for $ 200 – $ 300. What do you (Or girls) reccamend purchase?

go to a guitar store in your area and ask them … they should be able to configure it very well … If it's your first guitar and you're paying so I would keep it cheap (like $ 200 – $ 300) as you really do not know how much you'll get him yet … after playing for a couple of years and becoming much better, then go out and start updating your guitar and amp and all that
