Ukulele Tab: Learn To Play Scarborough Fair
In this ukulele lesson we will use the uke to play Scarborough Fair as a melody. You do not need knowledge score at all, so let's get started!
Scarborough Fair is an English ballad and dates back to late medieval times. Scarborough was a host a huge fair-forty-five days.
The name of Scarborough Fair is now used for a music festival held annually in Scarborough.
The first verse has the lyrics:
Are you going to Scarborough Fair? Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme Remember me to one who lives there She once was my true love
In articles like this that I use my own form of ukulele tab to make sure that the guides can be read on article sites.
You can find the more common ukulele tab staff on my site with ukulele tab, tablature and free sheet music.
The string with the peak in the ukulele is usually an A and is called the first rope. This is the string nearest your feet when you play.
The first number indicates the fret. The second number indicates the string to play. Here is the first part of the melody with ukulele tab:
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
23 23 01 31 01 02 12 February 23
23 indicates you play the third string while holding down the second fret with one finger of his left hand. 01 means that you play the first string without pressing a finger left. He is to play the string open.
We do not dicuss how to play with his right hand. I suggest you play the notes with his thumb of the hand Right, but do what you want.
The ukulele tab notation does not tell the duration of notes. I leave that to you figure it out.
Let's play the next ukulele tab:
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
01 31 51 31 01 21 32 01
51 means that you press to bottom left hand finger on the fifth fret on the first string. I did not say anything about what the left hand fingers to press down on the frets on your ukulele yet.
You can of course use the first finger for all notes, but the best way to use the fingers of the left hand is to play the notes on the first fret with the first finger, the notes of the second house with his long finger and the notes on your third house with your ring finger.
It can be difficult at first, but if you this practice fingerings it will actually be easier for you to find the right notes. You do not even look at your fingers to find the right not worry if you get used to this way of playing.
The notes in the fifth house can be played with your ring finger too.
Here comes the next ukulele tab and lyrics:
This reminds me of someone who lives there
51 51 51 31 01 01 32 12 February 2003
The ukulele tab and lyrics now comes last:
She once was my true love
23 01 32 12 02 23 03 23
Now you can play Scarborough Fair on his ukulele with ukulele tab!
In fact, you can touch the melody by using the above ukulele tab notation on the guitar too. The first three strings of a guitar are tuned the same way, but not in the same tone.
The best way to learn the melody is replaced by one line at a time and learn by heart.
When you know the melody of heart you have the pleasure to be able to play the melody at any time and anywhere!
