Chicago is home to many great festivals and events. One of his biggest is the Chicago Blues Festival, held in Grant Park each June. The festival this year is a milestone for celebration 25th Annual Chicago Blues Festival. The biggest festival of Blues free admission throughout the world, the four-day festival offers the best in Blues national, international and local entertainment on six stages with more than 70 performances, preceded by a month of Blues activities, known as Station Blues over Chicago.
In celebration the 25 annual events, the festival not only a quarter of a century of the highlights Blues Festival, but also celebrate the centenary of Louis Jordan, Tommy McLennan, and Blind John Davis. Throughout its history, the festival has presented countless number of blues notes and moments to millions of fans of blues around the world in one of Chicago Lakefront popular. Chicago Blues Festival honors and keeps alive an important part of the city's heritage. The first Blues festival city in 1984 helped open the season of summer festivals Chicago and came a year after the death of Muddy Waters.
Through the years, the festival has celebrated many benchmarks and celebrated men and women who lived their lives playing and singing the blues. Where else have blues fans could watch as Chuck Berry shared the stage with Keith Richards, did circle dances with Janie Hunter, or John Lee Hooker performed a "Boogie chillen '" Solo for a crowd of hundreds of people.
The Annual Blues Festival 25 will deliver the snapshot moments crowds even have come to expect. Multitudes will receive the royal treatment Friday evening, June 6, with headliners Koko Taylor and her Blues Machine, Eddy "The Chief" Clearwater, and a special set honoring the past, featuring Ruby Andrews, Cicero Blake Ross and Jackie.
The Queen of the Blues, Koko Taylor, is not strange Chicago, which she calls home. Known for his gruff voice and powerful, Taylor recorded for Chess Records, and more recently with Alligator Records. She won over 25 awards WC Handy and performs over 100 concerts a year. His talent has influenced powerful female musicians such as Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin and Shemekia Copeland.
Eddy Clearwater is a versatile Chicago blues performer who was nominated and won several WC Handy awards. He is known for his role as a showman, including your hand left upside down to play guitar. On Friday evening, it will cause the entire cast of his newly released CD, West Side Strut. The project includes Billy Branch, Otis Clay, Jimmy Johnson, Lonnie Brooks, and the band members Ronnie Brooks (son of Lonnie Brooks), along with fellow band Eddy. Fans Chicago Blues Festival will be fortunate to see these great playing together on stage at the Petrillo Music Shell for a memorable evening.
On the evening of Sunday, June 8 in Chicago is for a real treat with a look of Blues legend, BB King. Final night of the festival will be majestic with headliners also include Little Willie Littlefield, Bobby Parker and Karen Carroll with Charlie Love and special guest Lurrie Bell. Known as the King of the Blues, BB King was awarded the stages around the world, and at age 82, he continues to tour as often as he did in his youth. King last played at the festival in 1988. With one of the most recognizable styles in the music business, King has influenced a myriad of musicians talent, including Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and George Harrison.
The Chicago Blues Festival has grown tremendously in its 25 years and now has over one hundred presentations in seven stages and extended hours from 11 to 9:30 PM Chicago Blues Festival is known worldwide as one of the biggest and best Blues events on the planet, drawing hundreds of thousands of people around the world to Grant Park, year after year.
